BBC Local Radio will simultaneously broadcast an episode of The Archers across all 39 of its local stations on 30 July. This marks the first time the BBC Radio 4 continuing drama will be aired across the local network. The broadcast is part of the BBC Farmwatch event. Jeremy Howe, editor of The Archers, confirmed the episode was specially written for this occasion.
The BBC Farmwatch schedule includes a livestock livestream titled Mooscast, which shows cows moving from fields to a milking parlour. The programming also features a report on food costs titled Burgerflation, which examines the expense of family barbecues. Chris Burns, head of local audio commissioning, stated that the event focuses on farming and rural stories.
Additional content for the day includes Farm Swap, a segment where BBC Local Radio presenters work on farms within their respective regions. An all-England evening show will be hosted by Harriet Cowan, known for Clarkson's Farm, and YouTuber Joe Seels. This evening program will air across the full network of 39 stations.
The event begins on Thursday 30 July. The Archers has been in production for 75 years.
