Ghosts: The Possession of Button House will open in cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 23 October 2026. The feature length family adventure film is a production of Monumental in association with BBC Film and BBC Studios. Lionsgate holds the release rights for the UK and Irish territories, while BBC Studios manages global sales and worldwide distribution.

The film is written by the series creators and cast members Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe-Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond. These individuals also serve as executive producers. The cast includes Lolly Adefope, Charlotte Ritchie and Kiell Smith-Bynoe. Simon Hynd directs the project, with Alison Carpenter and Andy Brunskill credited as producers.

Additional executive producer credits are held by Jill Forbes for Monumental, Eva Yates for BBC Film, Marie-Claire Benson and Emma Berkofsky for Lionsgate, and Richard Acton for BBC Studios. Production began earlier this year at West Horsley Place and various locations throughout the South East of England.

The writing team previously created and starred in Yonderland and Bill, and were original cast members of Horrible Histories. The theatrical release follows the broadcast run of the Ghosts television series, which is currently available for streaming on BBC iPlayer. The film is a Monumental production presented by BBC Film.
