Channel 4 has commissioned a four part series titled George Clarke's Amazing Spaces: First Homes. The production is handled by Plum Pictures and is presented by architect George Clarke. The series focuses on individuals and families constructing affordable housing in unconventional locations.
The episodes follow the transformation of various non traditional sites into residential properties. These include the conversion of buses, boats, former toilet blocks, and tiny homes. George Clarke and collaborator Will Hardie document the build process and the personal backgrounds of the homeowners. George Clarke stated that the series follows people building their own first home for the first time.
The commission was made by Senior Commissioning Editor Clemency Green and Director of Commissioning, Nations and Regions, Jo Street. Clemency Green described the series as an application of the existing Amazing Spaces format to a subject affecting millions of people in the UK. Gill Wilson, Creative Director of Plum Pictures, confirmed the production focuses on small spaces and inventive builds.
The series consists of four episodes. Plum Pictures is the production company.
