BBC Cymru Wales has signed a three year agreement with the Football Association of Wales to broadcast selected matches from the Novira Cymru Premier. The contract runs until summer 2029 and guarantees a minimum of 20 live games per season. All live fixtures will be hosted on BBC iPlayer, with supporting coverage provided via BBC Sport Online.
The broadcast schedule begins on 15 August at 12.30pm with Barry Town United versus Cardiff Met. This will be followed by Ammanford versus Connah's Quay Nomads on 22 August at 12.30pm. Carolyn Hitt, Head of Sport for BBC Cymru Wales, confirmed the deal follows a separate agreement to broadcast all UEFA Wales men's international games until Euro 2028.
Jack Sharp, FAW Head of Domestic Leagues, stated that the volume of free to air live broadcasts has doubled compared to the previous season. The current broadcasting portfolio for the league is split between Cymru Football TV and free to air coverage. This arrangement allows for simultaneous distribution across a subscription model and a public service broadcaster.
The deal ensures that a minimum of 20 matches per season are available to viewers without a subscription. This content is distributed through the BBC digital infrastructure. The Novira Cymru Premier is the top flight of the Welsh football league system. The current season is already in progress at the time of this announcement. The agreement with the FAW provides the BBC with domestic league rights alongside its existing international fixtures.
