BBC Scotland has commissioned a two part documentary series titled Tommy Sheridan: Caught in the Headlines. The project consists of two 60 minute episodes produced by Finestripe Productions. Graeme Hart serves as the series producer and director, while Lorraine McKechnie is the executive producer.

The production features interviews with Tommy Sheridan and his wife, Gail Sheridan. The series uses personal and broadcast archives to document Sheridan's history as an anti poll tax campaigner and a socialist Member of the Scottish Parliament. It covers the subsequent court cases and his period of imprisonment. The series includes contributions from journalists, activists, political opponents, and former colleagues of Sheridan.

This commission is part of a broader slate of factual content from independent production companies for BBC Scotland. This wider slate covers subjects including terrorism, true crime, contemporary history, and popular culture mythology. David Harron is the commissioning editor for documentaries and specialist factual at the network.

The series focuses on the political and social changes in Scotland over a forty year period. It documents the rise and fall of Sheridan's public reputation through insider testimony and archival footage. The production includes the first televised account of Sheridan's life provided by the subject himself. Finestripe Productions is the independent production company responsible for the delivery of the two hour series.
