BBC has commissioned a second six-part series of Ann Droid. The announcement was made during the Spotlight on the BBC session at the Edinburgh TV Festival. The comedy is produced by Boffola Pictures and Witchcraft Industries.

The first episode of the first series attracted 7.6 million viewers within its first 28 days. This figure represents the second largest scripted launch for the BBC this year, following Small Prophets. Total viewership for the premiere episode has since risen to 8.1 million. Among the 16 to 34 demographic, the show recorded the largest launch of any new BBC series across all genres since The Celebrity Traitors.

The series was created by Diane Morgan and co-written by Morgan and Sarah Kendall. The cast includes Sue Johnston, Diane Morgan, and Paul Ready. The plot centers on a woman who receives a second-hand eldercare robot to assist her in living independently. Emma Lawson, Interim Director of BBC Comedy, and Shane Allen, executive producer for Boffola Pictures, confirmed the renewal.

The first series debuted in July 2026 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer. Each episode in the commission has a 30 minute runtime. The production involves a partnership between Boffola Pictures and Witchcraft Industries. The series is a 6 x 30 minute format.
