BBC iPlayer has launched a curated content categories for the autumn season, grouping titles under themed headings including Cosy Drama, Cosy Comedy, Cosy Films, Cosy Documentaries, and Cosy Entertainment. The platform is promoting a selection of period and contemporary titles to drive viewership as daylight hours decrease.
The curated drama selection features The Other Bennet Sister, produced by Bad Wolf. The series focuses on the character of Mary Bennet within the Regency era. The BBC has confirmed a three part special for this title scheduled for release in Christmas 2026. Other period dramas available on the service include adaptations of works by Jane Austen and Agatha Christie.
The comedy and romance category includes Film Club, a romantic comedy starring Aimee Lou Wood and Nabhaan Rizwan. The plot centers on two characters, Evie and Noa, who review films weekly. The service also lists Daddy Issues, another series featuring Aimee Lou Wood, and He Had It Coming, a comedy starring Lydia West.
The crime category features The Hairdresser Mysteries, starring Sally Phillips as Lily Petal. This production is set in the 1970s and follows a hairdresser who moves her business to a village salon. The BBC is grouping this title alongside existing crime properties such as Ludwig, Father Brown, and Hope Street.
The platform has integrated a More Like This discovery tool to link these curated categories to wider archives of 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s dramas. The current offering includes the legacy series Hetty Wainthropp and Lynley. The Other Bennet Sister is currently available for streaming in full on the BBC iPlayer service.
