BBC Scotland has named eight winners of the Make a Difference Awards following a ceremony at BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow on Sunday 13 September. The event was hosted by BBC Radio Scotland presenters Grant Stott and Laura MacIver. A panel of judges including Judith Ralston, Cammy Barnes, and Arlene Stuart selected the winners from a shortlist of finalists from across Scotland.

Gordon Mackie received the Active Award for his work as the founder of Red Road Wrestling Club. Bruce Mouat, the Team GB men curling skip, served as the judge for this specific category. Red Road Wrestling Club was established by Mackie in 2001 to provide free wrestling opportunities for children and young people. The club provides free kits and funds trips to the Highland Games and the Backhold Championships in France.

Victoria Easton-Riley, Head of Audio and Events at BBC Scotland, confirmed the results of the awards. BBC Radio Scotland will feature the winners across its Breakfast programme on Monday. The awards recognize individuals and groups who provide support to local communities.

The ceremony took place at the BBC headquarters in Glasgow. The Active Award specifically recognizes those using physical activity or sport to improve community lives. Gordon Mackie has operated the Red Road Wrestling Club for 25 years.
