BBC One and BBC iPlayer will broadcast The Split Up this September. The six part legal drama is written and created by Ursula Rani Sarma, who also serves as executive producer. The series is produced by the makers of The Split.
Set in Manchester, the narrative focuses on the Kishan family and their family law firm. The plot follows Aria Kishan as she prepares to take over the practice from her father, Dhruv. The story includes Aria's fiancé, Neal, and her siblings, Maya and Kav. Maya is a former employee of the firm who returned to the workforce after ten years as a stay at home mother. The production uses a story of the week format, introducing a different legal case in every episode.
The series examines the professional and private lives of the Kishan family following the death of Raina, Aria's mother, six months prior to the start of the series. The plot involves a former partner of Aria moving to Manchester and the discovery of a family secret. Ursula Rani Sarma stated that the series is a legal family drama focused on the high net worth sector of family law.
The BBC is scheduling the premiere for September. To support the launch, all three seasons of The Split and the two part special The Split: Barcelona are currently available for streaming on BBC iPlayer.
