At the BBC has a new episode airing Saturday, October 10, 2026 at 8:40pm. Series 2026, Episode 14 titled "40 Hits of 1976 at the BBC" will be broadcast on BBC Two.

A strong contender for the title 'weirdest year in pop', 1976 marked the birth of Sex Pistols and saw hits for the likes of Thin Lizzy, Joan Armatrading, Dolly Parton, Wings, and John Miles. However, the year's biggest-selling single was Brotherhood of Man's Eurovision-winning Kisses for Me, and the Wurzels somehow managed to plough their way to the top of the charts. This collection of archive performances captures all those musical highs and lows, alongside performances from Elton John and Kiki Dee, Cliff Richard, the Rolling Stones and a special double dose of Abba.
